Winter Park Thanksgiving

We arrived in Winter Park about 9 a.m. on Wednesday so we had two hours to kill before checking into the house. First we stopped for breakfast and then went to the Fraser Library. Wednesday was arrival day for everyone so we just hung out until the Coursey's showed up.  They are friends we met while living in Texas.

Thanksgiving Day:  We started out our day with tubing on the Coca-Cola hills.  The snow was very icy so the hill was very fast.  Olivia was terrified the first run, but I talked her into trying it one more time and she started loving it.  Ike loved it right away and was going down by himself and doing his own thing.

Via and I would go down roped together.

This is a nice and easy way to get back to the top of the hill.

Charles was the cook for the day.  He stepped out for a little break after we got back from tubing.

Claire, Trey, Via and Darren waiting to eat.  Poor Trey started feeling pretty sick Thanksgiving morning and by Friday ended up at urgent care with Pneumonia.

Bill, Danielle, Krissy, Ike, Charles, Denny, and Elenor chatting.

And Via

It was an unusually warm and beautiful day!  We ended it with a fire and s'mores in the backyard.

Friday:  We went to Winter Park Village.  Here miss Via is giving me some serious attitude.....about gloves!

Kids playing in a big snow pile.

We decided to take the gondola up to the top of the mountain.

There was more snow up there and it snowed for a few minutes.  It was cold but Claire enjoyed seeing it up there.

Smores and then hot cocoa at the top.

We had an adult beverage while the kids drank their cocoa

Time to head back to the house.

Derek, Meg and Rafa arrived Friday afternoon.  They came over for dinner and to hang out for the evening.

The kids playing while poor Trey is still feeling terrible on the couch.

We enjoyed another trip to Winter Park.  We really love it here!

  1. Looks like a blast! And why can’t our mountain have one of those “easy up the hill” lifts?? I love sledding but tromping up the side of the mountain about does this girl in!
