After my meeting with Sarah this morning I decided to call Jane (the social worker in Utah) and tell her that the home study is complete. I told her that it just needed some more signatures and would hopefully be on its way to her next week. She said that was wonderful news and asked me if we were ready and I of course said YES. Then she said okay I will start showing your book. What?! Apparently Jane just needed to know that the home study was complete, but she does not need it in her possession. SOOO what I am telling you is that as of one hour ago all systems are a go! WE ARE ACTIVE!!!
I wish I had a picture to insert here of us jumping around screaming with joy. I don't - so just imagine it. :)

It's Wednesday again!
I can say that things are moving along. I would not say smoothly though because I feel like I have had to babysit our agency though the whole second run of the fingerprints. The dates needed have been put into the home study, and now we just need everyone to sign it. You might think that sounds easy, but this is a bad week to get everyone in one place. Sarah (our social worker) was in Castle Rock (5 hours away) Monday and Tuesday. Denny is in Houston Tuesday through Friday morning, and Sarah is leaving again Thursday afternoon for California and will not be back until Friday the 28th. Do you see my dilemma?! Sarah, Denny and I all need to be in the same place!
I feel a bit annoyed that Sarah's vacation is at such a bad time and if our agency had been more on top of things with Denny's fingerprints we would already be active and her vacation would not have been a problem for us at all. I put some pressure on her to try and figure SOMETHING out so that we do not have to wait until the 28th to sign the paperwork. Here is what we came up with.... I will meet with Sarah tomorrow a.m. and read over the paperwork to check for errors and do my part in the signing department. She will then do her signing and take it to the pregnancy center where she knows another social worker (Peg) who is willing to help us out. Peg will meet with Denny Friday morning to get his signatures and then she will FedEx the paperwork to Castle Rock (It will be such a relief to just have this happen). It will get there Monday morning where it will get another look over and signature. Once that is completed it will be sent to Salt Lake and when it gets there we will be active!!!

Wednesday Update
I have some good news! I called today and they told me that Denny's fingerprints are done! This time they have passed through CBI and FBI. I called the agency doing our home study and they did not know this yet. I swear! Now they need to get the dates and input them into the home study and it will be all done except for signatures.
Denny is in Texas working until Friday morning, so when I go pick him up from the airport we will hopefully be able to go down to the agency and sign our completed home study. It will then go to Castle Rock, CO on Monday for another signature and then it will be mailed to Salt Lake City, UT.
Lets hope all goes well and we will be active in one week!
UPDATE: After talking to the CBI I called my agency and told them what I knew. They then call the FBI to find out the dates to put in the home study. The agency then called me back and said that the CBI gave me incorrect information and that the FBI had received the print, but they have not processed them. Meaning there is still a chance that they could be kicked back from the FBI. I have learned to trust no one so I call the FBI and for some reason she was willing to talk to me (in the passed when I call she will not tell me anything) and she told me a different story. I hope this is making sense because I am confusing myself just writing about it! Anywho, the FBI said that his prints have been cleared and will not be kicked back, but the paperwork will not be processed until next week. I am SOOO confused!
Now we know we can not sign the home study until next week, but when next week is the problem. There is only one person that works at our local office and she will be at the main office 5 hours away on Monday and Tuesday. Then she will be here Wednesday and Thursday, and leaving town for one week next Friday. Mother's Day Mile
Denny and I spent the day in Glenwood Spring with family at the Mother's Day Mile Run. It is an annual run that raises money for women of domestic violence. Last year uncle Dean, cousin Sophia, and Denny ran and then all of us did the mile walk at the end.
This year the Vigil's did an awesome job. Dean managed to hold onto his first place in the 40-49 age group from last year with a 5 min. mile.

Every Wednesday
Today is Wednesday and I am on a mission. I have decided that I will be calling CBI every Wednesday until they tell me they are done with Denny's fingerprints. Then I will call the FBI. The nice thing about CBI is they tell me what is going on with our prints. The FBI however will just tell me they can't tell me and to call our adoption agency. Well, I will be calling them anyway. Last time they failed to let anyone know that the prints had been kicked back, so I will bug them enough that I will at least know that much this time.
Last Wednesday (April 28th)~ I called CBI and Patricia (I think I have talked to Patricia 6 times in the last three months, but she seems to have no clue who I am) said they did received the prints on Monday the 26th (which I already knew because I sent them FedEx). She also told me that sometimes resubmissions go faster, but not always. That is not the best news I have heard because the FIRST time took 9 weeks. I guess I just don't understand why they wouldn't ALWAYS go faster, but okay Patricia.
Today (May 5th)~ I talked to Michelle who took a really long time to find Denny's information because she is learning a new computer system. OH Wonderful! When Michelle finally gets back on the line she informs me that Denny's prints were completed March 6th. Lovely! I know that, but I am talking about the ones that have not been processed. Can you look at those, please? Thanks. After several more minutes Michelle finds the unprocessed prints and tells me that they are currently working on resubmissions that were submitted on April 22. I am thinking, finally good news, that means they should only be a few days away from Denny's prints because the 22nd was a Thursday, and the 24th and 25th were a weekend so BAM we are at the 26th. Right?! Michelle thinks it should be about two weeks, but I am welcome to try again next week. My math must be getting a bit rusty.
Maybe, just maybe, Wednesday the 12th will bring good news!
