Summer Continues and Via rides a bike

We spent a day with the Opitz crew in Wellington celebrating Milo's birthday.  Ike was so SO sad to leave.  He had the best time with his buddy Jack (Milo's big brother) who used to be our neighbor when we lived in Fruita.

We have been eating out a lot lately.  Kids always want to have their coloring pages,  half lemonade half water, and usually order a hot dog and French fries if that is an option.

Kids have been doing a lot of bike riding and now that I have a bike I enjoy little rides with them.  We don't go to far because Via will get frustrated and it is to much drama for me.  Without me the kids will do a little lap which is just our block.  With me we will do a "big lap" which is two blocks.

Kids and I have been enjoyed shark week on the discovery channel this week.

A little science at WOW Children's Museum.  Kids were able to sample some frozen gummy worms and frozen marshmallows.  

Via has tried riding without training wheels a few times, but today she was able to do it!!  So exciting!   She is still very nervous and wobbly but she will be a pro in no time.

Denny took the kids to watch Despicable Me 3, shopping, out to lunch, and to the park today.  I had a glorious 7 hours to myself so I could do laundry, dishes, back to school clothes shopping for the kids, went for a walk, and just relaxed.

Bye Bye Basin

Three weeks flew by and we are back home in Erie.  The kids and I had such a wonderful time and already look forward to next year!

On Denny's last day he and Ryan were doing flips off the diving board.

This weeks rec center activity for the kids was Volleyball.

A Basin trip would not be complete without one trip to A&W in Greybull.

Ike started off our Basin trip needing Grammie to lower him into the pool from the diving board.  They last few days though he was brave enough to walk off on his own.  Via was doing spins and getting wild by the end.

Ike was so excited to get to spend some time in the Basin library.

Team Awesome!!  They all watched this movie at their overnight stay with Uncle Ryan at the boys house.  It was the first time Ike and Via stayed all night.

Kade taught himself how to ride Jacers bike without training wheels.  He showed us and we were all shocked!

The last few summers Ike has loved watching wheel of fortune in the evenings before bed at Grammie's house.

The kids and I had an awesome yard sale find at Skye's house.  Sporting our Wyoming pride!

There were very few days the we didn't spend a few hours at the Basin pool this year.  The kids loved it!

We spent one last night at Boysen before heading back to Erie. All of us had the chance to go tubing and spend some time with Aunt Sandy.  In the evening the kids did many drawings and would display them on the fridge.

July 4th, Newspaper Fame, and a day trip to Hyattville

First stop on July 4th was the Ten Sleep parade.

Then home to do some fun, kid friendly, noise making, confetti blowing fireworks.

We went to the pool Monday July 3rd. It was a crazy day at the pool.  I ran into several high school pals (Sandi Jones, Whitney Boyd, Sarah Adams) that no longer live here and we were all in town visiting.  That of course includes trips to the pool. Then the kids made the paper July 5th. (It says 6th but it comes out Wednesday nights and my parents have always gone and got the paper on Wednesday night since I can remember.)

This morning we woke up and decided it was a perfect day to spend at Taylor Ranch in Hyattville.  The kids and grown ups had a great time.

We walked up the creek to peek in the cave on Jacers left.

A little further up Kade spotted a snake in the water and lost his cool.  It was a bit shocking! The rest of us stayed very calm in hopes that the rest of the kids would also stay calm.

We headed out on a walk to explore the rest of Taylor Ranch/Medicine Lodge.

Kids found this fort in the trees and LOVED it.  The magic of being a kid....

Water break

Little fishers.  They caught rocks, trees and weeds.

More fishing and catching the same things.  It kept Gram and Ryan busy freeing their hooks.

We packed up and headed out just minutes before the afternoon wyo winds picked up and clouds moved it.  It was a perfect day!

This weekend was extra special for me.  As kids Ryan, David and I spent a lot of time at Boysen and we have many wonderful memories there.  This weekend Ryan, David and I were able to watch our children get to experience something we loved as children.  Grammie and Grandpa made our wonderful weekend possible and we all look forward to making many more special memories in a special place.

We found a dead snake it the grass and the kids were very interested.  Kade and Via were the bravest and soon Ike and Jace did the same.

It has been 20 years since I went water skiing.  I made it up first try and I was crazy excited.  Ryan, David and Mom also all got up the first try.  Lindsay took a couple tries but did it and it was her first time.

The kids all had a chance to get on the tube.  The little ones were pretty nervous at first but it didn't take them long to love it.  Ike and Jace wanted to go faster and faster the last time we did it.

Summer is exhausting.  Via crashed out for a nap at the end of the boat trip.
