Ike COVID test

Here we are in a what felt like a flashback to spring. Sitting at the table doing school work. This is what it looks like for most kids in our district, but Ike and Via have been doing school in child care at the school. Then one week in Ike got sick. Sore throat, runny nose and the start of a cough for Ike had us all stuck at home schooling and working on Monday. I took Ike right in for a COVID test because I wanted to get back to work ASAP and my kids mostly enjoy community care.

I am the mom that does not giving warnings if I know my kids are not going to like,  so I didn't give Ike any warnings about what the test would be like.  In this pic the doc is telling Ike that she is going to stick the swab up his nose and collect snot.  With his head tilted like a puppy does when you say something like "treat" Ike said, "you are what?....I don't feel very comfortable with that."  He was cracking us up.

He did so great getting the test.  When we got home I asked if he had to get one tomorrow if he would be mad.  He said it would be fine.  That is good news because as much as this kid gets colds this will likely not be his last test.

It took 48 hours to get the results so we were home Monday, Tuesday and got the results late morning on Wednesday.  These two happy kids were so happy to get to head outside to run around with their friends and to be back at the school on Thursday.  I was very happy to be back too.  It is much easier to do my job at the school.

 

Ike is 10!!!

Ike woke up to the awesome and huge sign in our yard.

Grandpa drove them to school in the back of the pickup for a birthday treat.  Via LOVED it. Ike liked it but was a little nervous.

When we got home from school/work Denny pull in a few minutes later with this awesome new bike for Ike.

Then all of Ike's neighbor friends stopped by an enjoyed a donut and some playtime.

For COVID sort of reasons we all found that taking temperatures and using the oximeter was very entertaining.

Back to School 2020-2021

Day 1 of back to school!  School is starting full online for the school year and for who knows how long.  I work at the school, so Ike and Olivia will be going with me everyday and doing their school with the other staff kiddos in community school.  I have been so stress and worried for them but they both had a great first day.  I hope it continues.

3rd year at Soaring Heights for Ike and Via, and 2nd year at SHPK8 for me.

Day two at Community Schools: Ike is upstairs in the teachers lounge with 15 other 3rd- 5th graders.

Olivia is in the lunchroom with 14 other Kinder-2nd graders.

 

Camp Hale

WE have arrived!!  Girls immediately got to work unpacking and prepping their sleeping/ chill out cave.

After unpacking and having some lunch we headed up the mountain in the razors. Clarendon, Denny, John, Ike and I in one.  Neil, Elizabeth, Erin, Grace and Via in Neil's razor.

The beautiful views are never ending! 

After a few hours of riding we went back to camp and the kids spend hours riding the go-cart, razor, bikes, and ATV.

Taking a break to have some delicious supper!  Elizabeth and Clarendon always make the best suppers.

Back to cruising around.

A movie to wind down and relax on night one.

Good Morning!

Right below our camp was a nice little stream.  The water was COLD but still felt good to get our feet wet.

On our day two razor adventure we came across a huge tree blocking the trail.  Neil, Clarendon and Denny were able to get it out of the trail.

We stop and roam often when our on the rides.

When we went to camp Hale two years ago we spent a fair amount of time at this waterfall.  We had to go back this time too.  Love it!

After all our exploring in the razor the kids get right to riding when we get back to camp.

John drove us back to camp. He is already a great driver.

Movie night #2.  After a busy fun day outside it is the perfect way for them to wind down.  10pm was bedtime both nights.  They are all getting so big!

The boys got in some bike riding while we all loaded up.  Our camping trip with the Tate's is one of our favorite summer musts....they just end to quickly.
