Video of Ike

Derek~  I received the message that you wanted another video so this is for you.  He can't wait
to meet his uncle Derek and aunt Meg

Ike is one week old

Wednesday afternoon we got the call that our paperwork had been cleared and we could leave the state of Utah and head back to Colorado.  I have never packed a car so fast.  I was just throwing things in suitcases and Denny stuffing them into the car.  We REALLY wanted to get home and out of that hotel room.  We are so happy to now be comfortable in our home and close to our family and friends.

Yesterday was a really big day for Ike.  Lots of family and friends came over to meet the lil guy.  He slept through most of it, but it was fun for the rest of us.
Uncle Ryan and aunt Lindsay left Wyoming at the crack of dawn so they could get here by early afternoon to spend some time with us.  Lucky for us they will be here until Monday morning.

Aunt Danielle and cousin Krissy

Our friend Tami (Sam and Ben's mom)

Look at these precious boys all together!  I love it!

Good times!

Hotel Living

We are still hanging out at our hotel room in Salt Lake City.  We are very excited to be able to go home and settle into a routine there and to just simply get out of hotel living with an infant.  Ike is doing really well.  He does have a wound on his head from Delivery but we are monitoring it closely and he is on some meds so hopefully that will heal soon.  His umbilical cord fell off last night, and we were happy to see that go.

The grandparents have left, but they loved their time with the new grand baby.  We will be seeing them all again very soon.  We are also excited to introduce Ike to the rest of the family when we get back home

Ike is on a pretty good schedule and has been a really easy baby so far.  In the hospital he was a terrible eater and they were really worried about him not eating and spitting up everything he did eat.  When we got to the hotel I was able to start him on breast milk (I have an amazing friend who is pumping milk for Isaac) and he is much happier and now eats every two and half to three hours per his request.  In the hospital we would have to try and make him eat every four hours.  At night Ike is sleeping very well in his bassinet and just wakes up every three hours to eat.

Denny and I are somewhat tired but feeling pretty good and loving every minute we spend with Ike.  Right now it is a race to see who gets to change his diaper, feed him, or just cuddle with him.

Isaac "Ike" Robert Vigil

This is us waiting to hear news that our baby boy was born!  We spent the morning at Borders on the Internet and reading magazines.

We just love him so much!!  We were able to spend time at the hospital last night and this morning.  Hope has been absolutely amazing.  When we are there she lets us completely take over.  She told the social worker that she couldn't be more pleased with her decision.

Tonight we will be going back to the hospital to say our goodbyes with Hope.  We are not looking forward to it at all because it is going to be heartbreaking.  We have become very fond of her.

Tomorrow all the grandparents will be here and we will be able to bring him "home" to our hotel room!  That will be amazing!! It is so hard on Denny and I every time we walk out of that hospital without him.

He has arrived!!

1:21 pm during a crazy thunder storm he came into this world...

8 pounds 19 inches

We may not get to meet him today because Hope is completely exhausted.  We will either go late tonight to meet him or tomorrow.

We will be telling the grandparents his name when they all get here on Saturday and then we will share it with the world.  We are dying to meet him!!!

Waiting

The morning is moving by, but not as quickly as I would like.  We know that Hope is at the hospital and was "doing well" at 9:30 am, but have not heard anything since.  We are killing time at Borders.  Denny working and me looking at magazines and baby name books.  There is a deli next door that we will head to for lunch in about an hour and then we don't know what we will do while waiting to hear more news.

Come on baby boy!!

Lunch with Hope

I just want to give a very quick update.  We met Hope today at her restaurant of choice (Golden Coral).  After a somewhat awkward lunch we headed to the fair with her 9 yr old daughter and 2 year old son.  I am so happy we were blessed with the opportunity to meet her and her children, but it was emotionally exhausting and I am very happy to be back in our hotel room right now.  Tomorrow is a new day and she will be heading to the hospital at 6am for her induction.  We will get a phone call after he is born and we will head to the hospital to meet him!  I think the fact that we met Hope today will make things a bit more comfortable tomorrow, but I know we are in for another very emotional day.

I will update again tomorrow if I get a chance!

The PLAN!

In about 48 hours we will be in Salt Lake City, UT meeting Hope and enjoying a lunch together.

Hope decided that she wants to meet us for lunch on Wednesday and then spend the afternoon with us.  I have no idea what we will do all afternoon, but I am hoping that she has something in mind.  I will research some options today and tomorrow so we will have some suggestions.

Hope had mentioned that she would like us at the delivery also, but the agency is strongly discouraging this because I guess it rarely goes well.  Instead they have suggested that Hope call us right after he is delivered and we will come straight to the hospital to meet him.

This all still feels like a dream.  When the car is packed up and we hit the road Wednesday morning it is really going to hit us that this is happening.

Days Away

We can't believe that we are no longer counting down weeks.  Our countdown has now turned into days and we couldn't be more excited!  It sounds like we should hear Monday or Tuesday about the hospital plan.  Today I also heard that Hope is dialted to a 2.  Maybe he will come early!

More updates to follow.....

Oh and Lucy seems to finally be on the mend.  Drains were taken out of her back on Monday and the rest of the stitches come out next Monday.

A Round of Updates

Lucy~  It is almost two weeks since surgery and she was back at the Vet today.  The healing was going so well and Lucy was back to herself.  Unfortunately, last week she started to get fluid building up in her back where the tumor was.  We hoped with lots of TLC and ice packs her body would absorb it but instead it seemed to get bigger.  UHG!  Today they put a drain in her back and more stitches to help close the empty space in her back where the tumor and the fluid were.  Now it is back to trying to keep her calm and let her heal.  She has two small tubes sticking out of her back dripping blood for the next 5 days.  This is going to be a LONG 5 days.  I just really hope we can get this under control and she can be healthy before Denny and I leave for Utah.

Baby Vigil~  It sounds like Hope and the baby are doing well.  Hope still has not made a decision about whether or not she wants to meet us, but right now it is looking like she probably will not.
