Memorial Day Weekend 2017

We started our Loooong weekend on Thursday.  Denny was working from home so the kids and I went to the Denver Zoo to celebrate the first day of summer vacation.

We checked out a lot of animals but also couldn't forget the carousel and zoo train.

Thursday evening we went out to dinner with our friends then we had the last swim lesson of the school year.  They are both turning into such great swimmers!

Here is Ike and his buddy John sitting at the bar watching sports center while the moms pay the bill.  I couldn't help but to see a glimpse into the future of Ike becoming a man one day.

Friday afternoon Denny and I dropped the kids with Aunt Danielle and headed to Black Hawk for a night away in the mountains.  I had never been there and wanted to check it out.  We are not much into gambling but still had a nice getaway.  We both were only down 20 dollars when we left.

Saturday we picked the kids up from Nanna and Papa's house.  It was a very rainy day and the kids enjoyed getting very wet playing in it.

Saturday night Via was complaining of a sore throat and a bit whinny before bed.  G-Funk decided to comfort her.  G really loves Via when she is sound asleep.

Via seemed fine Sunday morning so we went to Arvada to watch Caleb Kyle play some soccer.  It was nice getting to hang out with Jayme and the kids loved spending time with Aiden.

By Sunday night Olivia was really acting miserable and her throat looked worse and a few sores on her tongue.  I decided to take her to Urgent Care the morning of Memorial Day.  We discovered she had Hand Foot Mouth Disease.  We went straight to the store to get watermelon, popsicles, and ice cream.  Here she is eating watermelon about 24 hours ago.  That was the last food she ate.  Now the sores in her mouth are everywhere and it is to painful to eat anything.  Poor girl is miserable! For now it is ice water, popsicles and milk shakes until she can eat something else.

Last day of Kindergarten: Celebration, Picnic, and School Carnival

Mrs. Eylens gave each kiddo their own certificate.  Ike's was Sports All-Star.

We were going through his Kinder Memory Book.  This year went by way to fast!!

Then we headed outside for a picnic lunch.  Ike's buddy and classmate Tanner joined us.

Down goes Miss Olivia

Olivia waited in line with her friend Grace for AN HOUR, at least, to get her face painted.  I thought Via was incredibly patient (more so than I was) for a four year old.  The lady did a great job but was sooo slow!

I looked beautiful and she and Grace were butterfly twins.  To bad it was right before bed so we had to wash it off right when we got home.  At least we have a photo to keep after waiting for ages to get it done.

May 13- Dance, Dance, Dance

Grammie, Grandpa, Nanna, Pappa, Aunt Danielle, Denny and I really enjoyed watching the kids shine at their adorable dance Recital.

Here they are before their performances.  Ike was a bit nervous because there was going to be more people at the recital than were at the morning rehearsal.

Olivia was very worried she would not be getting flowers, so she was overjoyed when we greeted them at the end with beautiful red roses.  She said she wanted tulips and lucky for me she has no idea what the difference is.  She was very proud of her "tulips".

May 12th- Erie Elementary Field Day - Grandpa is 73 - Ninja Games

We wrapped up our Friday watching Ike compete at the 2017 Ninja Games.  He had a blast.  Boy were both the kids tired at the end of this busy day.  Olivia had also been at school all day.

Miss Olivia

This precious girl and I get to spend a lot of time together now that Ike is in school full day.  Most days are wonderful and she is my happy, girly little princess.

Some days we decide to see if our cat can also be our dog.

We have been so happy to have the addition of G-funk to our family.

Sometimes things go terribly wrong when no one listens to mom.  I had just gotten done saying stop kicking the ball in the house when they both decided not to listen and Ike accidentally kicked Olivia in the eye (who knows why on earth her head was by the ball).  I wasn't feeling bad for either of them, but was a bit worried we would need to go to eye doc.  Thankfully it was bed time and after keeping her eye shut all night it felt better in the morning.  Sweet boy felt terrible.

Somedays we just can't manage to get on the same page.  The whining and fussing can really send me over the edge.

She loves to dance and swim and do gymnastics and just about everything.

Getting painted nails is a must when your bother gets to go to a birthday party and you don't.

Keeping that runny nose in check while sleeping.
