We had an amazing weekend. Derek, Meg, and Aunt Lisa were all in town to share some wonderful times barbecuing, rafting, and just hanging out.
Saturday we went rafting down the Colorado river. The water is high and chilly, but it was still a mellow float trip. My favorite part was when we were just minutes away from getting the boat to shore and we caught an under current that sucked Derek right out of the boat and into the water. At first, of course, we made sure he was safe and back in the boat, but I sure did have a few laughs at his expense. Sorry Derek! :-)
Derek dripping wet when we got to shore.
Sunday night we BBQ ed at our house, played some croquet, and watched Fruita fireworks.
Ike watching the fireworks. He never fussed or cried. He would just stare at them and then look at all of us to see what we thought, so we would all clap and he would do the same. So cute!
Monday was another day of rafting, but this time we went to Glenwood Springs to go down the roaring fork. It was high, fast, and very cold (48 degrees)! Ike and Nana roamed around town and brought us lunch when we were all done (Thanks a million Julie!).
Bob and I in the front. Lisa is on the other side of me.
Derek and Vinje in the middle with Denny beside Vin, and Dean in the back calling the shots.
Here we are approaching some good rapids.
Getting closer...
And now everyone is soaked
I was in the middle and didn't have a foot hold, so I ended up on the bottom of the boat a few times.
Great trip!
