Today I received a phone call from, Jane, our case worker in Utah. When I saw her number I was very excited, but she was just calling to check on us. That was a bit of a let down but I am so glad she called. I did get the chance to ask her a bunch of questions and I now feel a lot better about the situation. She said part of the reason for the long wait it that she is being very careful not to match us with someone that is not in Utah. Some of the birth mothers are already matched by the time they get to Utah with families from others states that are easier to deal with in case the mom goes into labor before getting to Utah. However, we are her top priority because we have been waiting awhile. She also reassured me that our profile book is "great". She said that the one birth mother that she showed it to a few weeks ago liked us a lot and loved the book, but because she had already delivered the day before she wanted a family from Utah that could be there right away. I also asked if the wait time is still about 2 to 8 weeks and she said yes. We will be at 6 weeks on Thursday so we are still in that range.
I just wanted to give everyone an update. It wasn't the news I was hoping for, but it was really great to hear from her.

Colorado Summer
First things first: No baby news. I appreciate all the questions and prayers and I promise I will let everyone know right away when baby Vigil arrives.
In an attempt to keep ourselves busy while we anxiously await the news that we are parents we are taking full advantage of our time together and enjoying every minute.
Denny decided that he wanted to take up cycling and he loved it so much I jumped on board. It is not exactly something we can do together, but we are both enjoying it. I prefer the FLAT country roads by our house that go on for miles and miles. Denny, on the other hand, went for a 26 mile bike ride yesterday that was 13 miles straight up and the rest was straight down windy roads. My legs hurt just looking at it. It took Denny and his Dad over two hours to do the ride and he thought it was amazing. I however, think it is amazing that anyone is crazy enough to do it!
This weekend was also the first time we were able to get the raft in the water. We went to Glenwood Springs and went down the Roaring Fork into the Colorado River. The weather started out on the cool side, but it warmed up and we had an awesome time. The river is still high from the mountain run off so we were wet, wet, wet by the end of the trip.
I have also been spending my wonderful summer with Sam and Ben. We were spending the day with Michael and Vicki a few weeks ago and decided to work on Mr. Potato Head. Sam did a great job and had to have his done just right (that is just how Sam is), and Ben...... he did it his own way.
They are just CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!

The Roller Coaster Continues
It has already been one hell of an emotional ride! Friday afternoon I received a call that there was a birth mother having a c-section and we would be one of the families considered for the baby boy. The birth mother was healthy and committed to the adoption and the baby boy was also healthy.
We did not hear back from Jane (the social worker) for a LONG 24 hours. The update was that everyone was doing well, but the birth mother had not chosen a family yet. Denny and I knew that at any point we could get a call to pack up the car and head to Salt Lake, or we could get a call that we had not been chosen. Even though we knew it could go either way it was still not easy to get the call at 9pm last night that the birth mother had picked another family. The whole thing transpired over about a 30 hour period. I can tell you though, that it did not feel like that, it felt like a full week!
I pray that we do not have to experience that to many times before we get the call that we have been chosen and to come meet our baby.

The wait....
This seems to be the most difficult part so far. Not knowing if this is going to be the day that will forever change the rest of our lives, or if we still have a few more months of waiting to go. We have been keeping busy with family and friends, but the days still seem to drag on forever. I feel very fortunate to have a group of people through our adoption support group that I can turn to and call whenever I need advice. It is such a blessing to know people that have been through this wait and can talk me through it. I will post more when I know more. Please keep us and the future baby Vigil in your thoughts and prayers.
