I have been putting this day off for over a year and I have come up with every excuse I could think of to keep from doing it (it makes my life easier, we are moving, we are having a new baby and blah...blah...blah!) When I took Ike to the dentist for his two year check up she told me it is easier to get rid of it before 12 months (well I missed that train....12 months ago!) but it needs to be gone by three. I was so happy! Yippy, Ike can keep it for one more year. Well I have hit my wall with this silly thing. I am sick of keeping track of them and making sure we always have them in the car and crib. I am tried of washing them and buying them so ta ta for now Binky!
I started slowly cutting of the tip 3 weeks ago. I made another snip every Tuesday. My hope was that he wouldn't like it anymore and give it up on his own. Well, that didn't happen. He was mad at the Binky (not me) for the first few days after the first snip and would say, "no, no, no, no" over and over again, but after a few days he just figured out how to make it work for him. Last night was Ike's last night with the Bink and there have been some tears, but in a few days I hope our big boy will come to terms with....being a big boy.
Laci cried for a few days and I had tried everything. Finally, I made her "mail" them to a kid in a different country that didn't have any and needed some.....I still have the wrapped box. Thank goodness for small town post office's because the post master pretended to mail it and even showed her where it went and she was thrilled. The next couple of days were HELL. But it got better!! GOOD LUCK! IKE will do great and you will be amazed after!!!
